On dit que la danse classique exige des sacrifices. Camille Derval les a tous faits. À vingt-sept ans, elle est l’une des premières danseuses les plus prometteuses du Ballet National : technique parfaite, discipline irréprochable, beauté glaciale. Pourtant, malgré les applaudissements, une même critique revient sans cesse : Elle ne fait rien ressentir. Quand Nikolai Orlov rejoint la compagnie pour créer une version inédite et sombre de Giselle, Camille devient contre toute attente son choix principal. Génie admiré autant que redouté, l’ancien danseur étoile possède une réputation inquiétante : les artistes qu’il façonne deviennent inoubliables… mais rarement indemnes. Sous son regard, les répétitions se transforment en jeu psychologique. Nikolai pousse Camille jusqu’à ses limites, devine ses failles les plus enfouies et détruit méthodiquement tout ce qu’elle contrôle. Et plus elle sombre, plus elle devient brillante sur scène. Entre obsession artistique, manipulation émotionnelle et attirance destructrice, Camille découvre un univers où la souffrance est considérée comme une matière première de l’art. Mais à mesure que leur relation devient plus intense, une question commence à la hanter : Combien de soi faut-il sacrifier pour devenir exceptionnelle ? Et si Nikolai ne cherchait pas seulement à créer un chef-d’œuvre… mais une danseuse incapable de vivre autrement que dans la douleur ?
